BIOGRAPHY

Musical Story

Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without
― Confucious (6th-5th century BC) ―

I started playing the piano at the age of seven at the "Accademia Musicale Simonelli" in Pescara (Italy).

Succeeding quickly in the examinations of Musical Theory and the 5th year piano exam,

in 1989, I decided to continue my musical journey with Professor Maria Cristina Boccadamo,

piano teacher at the Conservatory of Music in Pescara,

and with Professor Piero Capponi for the Harmony and History of Music studies.

[A conservatory of music is a university grade school highly specialized in music tuition.

The duration of the study plan for obtaining the "Piano Diploma" is 10 years.]

In 1995, after brilliantly passing the 8th-year piano exam, I achieved the Degree in piano at the

Conservatory of Music "L. D'Annunzio " - Pescara (IT), with the score 8.30/10.

From 1996 to 1999, I participated in some performances for 2 and 4 hands piano, in private cultural clubs,

presenting a repertoire that included some piano masterpieces like the "Hungarian Dances" by J. Brahms,

the "Six Morceau" by S. Rachmaninoff and the "Pictures at an exhibition" by M. Mussorgsky.

I have been teaching piano since 2001 and, through the years, I developed the ability to create

customised lesson plans and discovered new and exciting resources for my students.

Between 2014 and 2015 I held, on behalf of the Yamaha Music Foundation, the role of music teacher and keyboards, at the primary schools of the Comprehensive Institute 2 in Arzignano (Italy),

under the Yamaha project "Music in School".

In 2016, I moved to Cork (Ireland). Since 2018 I have been the resident pianist at the Fota Island Resort. The same year I started to do some gigs around Cork at café
and pubs and at Triskel Arts Centre.

From 2019 to 2022, I worked as a Music teacher at the Cork Life Centre.

The Life Centre is a place where young people let down by the mainstream education system can come

to learn, grow and develop their personalities.
As a music teacher there, I provided my students with all the musical elements they need to learn to take their exams and get a "Music Junior Certificate" or a "Music Leaving CertificateI".

It's really exciting when you see students making breakthroughs in their learning.

PIANO LESSONS

Piano Lessons start at €40 per 1 hour class and they are paid on a weekly basis.

There is also the opportunity to purchase a package of 8 lessons for a total price of €280 instead of €320.

If you are not sure you are ready to commit to classes, I'll be happy to offer you an informal free first lesson to discuss details.

My classes focus on piano technique, aural skills, theory and sight reading ability.

I also cover improvisation, chord chart reading, and other key musical elements.

To track of a student's progress, I use an exercise book to keep note of what the student is working on and where his focus needs to be.

I am willing to teach people of any age - determination is the key, not age - and students of all abilities from beginners to advanced.

As I teach my students individually, I am able to ensure that the focus of the lesson is on the area that a student most needs improvement.

Even if I offer my students the opportunity to receive online tuition - in video conferencing "via Zoom" -, here are some reasons why I prefer to give lessons in person and do not recommend those ones online. [At least at the beginning of your studies.]

- When the student is a child or adolescent, the level and attention time he/she will devote to online lesson

is usually less than what an "in person" lesson can offer.

- Those who - although no longer a child or a teenager - have not previously established a relationship of trust with their music teacher and/or do not already have a certain "self-discipline" will find it very difficult to acquire those values through online lessons.

- Music is not a purely technical discipline. The wealth of information, sensations and emotions that a teacher transmits to a student during a lesson in physical presence is not comparable to what an online lesson can generally offer.
